FATAL TACTICS: SURVIVAL
RULEBOOK

Description: FATAL TACTICS: SURVIVAL is a year-round statistics, non-explosives tournament with a year-end final playoff for qualifying clans to determine a FT: Survival Champion, a title that will last for the entire following year. Your clan MUST have successfully completed FT: Proving Grounds in order to compete in FT: Survival.
Currently, FT: Survival is a tournament for SOCOM: Confrontation.
Every month, from January to November, FT: Survival begins anew and runs for three weeks. A clan can choose to participate in every month of the year or select which months they wish to participate and which months they wish to sit out, without penalty. Matches per monthly tourney happen every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday night of the week.

Fee: FT: Survival is a free tourney to those clans of the FT Community.
Team sizes: 8 vs 8 matches on small maps only.

Rule Set #1: Rule Amending During Tournament Play

A: During the entire tournament, if there is a discrepancy in the way a clan or player perceives a rule, the way a rule affects another rule in an unforeseen way, or in any instance where something was not covered within the rule sets to begin with, the following procedure will take place.

B: After the Admins find there is a complaint, the Admins will first try to offer an explanation/interpretation to satisfy all parties and to get tourney play resuming as normal again.

C: If the Clan Reps feel that the rule or rules DO need to be altered, then the creators will take that and re-work the ruling, both for the immediate instance, if necessary, as well as the long-standing rules we're all to follow during tournament play. Clan Reps and clans will not have a say in HOW the rule is changed, but only to acknowledge that it needs to be altered. The creators will hear opinions on the matter, and change the ruling as they see fit, taking into account the opinions set forth by the Clan Reps.

D: Once a rule is altered, there will be a forum-wide announcement stating so, but it should fall on your Clan Rep's shoulders to MAKE SURE that your clan, ALL of your clan, is fully aware of the change.

***This is a simple disclaimer to make certain that hell doesn't break loose in the event that a rule was inadequate or altogether missing from the rule set. Mistakes CAN happen.

Rule Set 2: Beginning Procedures for Launching FT: Survival

A: The FT Staff will determine the teams chosen to participate in the tournament after reviewing all submitted applications. The staff reserve all rights to keep out any clan(s) they feel will not fit in this tourney, either by online actions, temperament on these forums, or simply because a quota for the tourney was reached. The staff of FATAL TACTICS are not obligated to disclose any reason for not accepting a particular clan into Fatal Tactics.

B: Let it be known that FT: Survival will contain SOCOM Confrontation maps from the PS3 only. You should have a majority of your clan prepared to play these maps well before this tournament begins. Maps to be used in this tourney will be fully disclosed to the participating clans before the tourney begins by the FT Staff. All maps, however, will be played on the small version of the offered map.

C: Once chosen to participate in FT: Survival, each clan is responsible for appointing a CLAN REP for their clan. This Clan Rep, or "CR," is responsible for all maneuvers for their designated clan, as well as being in charge of informing all their clansmen of any updates and/or changes to the happenings in the tourney. In the best interest of your clan, PLEASE make your Clan Rep the most responsible and most available member of your clan. They are in charge of getting to this forum on an almost daily basis to make sure your clan is informed of all happenings in this tourney.

D: At any time, due to a lack of strong etiquette, a Clan Rep may have a Clan Rep vote brought against him. If that Clan Rep is expelled, your clan can appoint a replacement. If, after further instances, another Clan Rep vote is brought against your new Clan Rep and he is expelled, then your entire clan will be expelled from the Fatal Tactics: Survival tournament. We are not here to baby sit whiners and immature children. For your clan's sake, make CERTAIN that your Clan Rep understands what is expected of him.

Rule Set 3: Standby Clan Alternates

A: No alternate clans will be needed for FT: Survival. Should a clan drop out or be removed before the start of FT: Survival, another applying clan will be contacted to fill the open position. If a clan is removed or drops out after the launch of the newest tourney, then their opponents originally scheduled to face them will receive a bye for the week with no points awarded or penalized for that night's match. Since the ongoing stats for a clan are based on rounds won-to-lost on a percentage value, a bye night will not negatively affect their overall standing in the tourney.

Rule Set 4: Season Details

A: FT: Survival will consist of 11 monthly tourneys that lead up to a month-long bracket playoff in December. Each month will see a new tourney begin so that clans have the option of going another month in or sitting a month out. Tourneys will be named as the month, for example, "FT: Survival January, FT: Survival March, FT: Survival September" and so on. The overall round/war win/loss/tie record of each participating clan in FT: Survival will determine its seeding for the single elimination playoff bracket which immediately follows at the end of the year.

B: Matches will occur each Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the week at 9:00pm Central Standard Time. This time is the match "default" time. If two opponents wish to schedule their match at an alternate 9:30 CST or 10pm CST start time, they can agree to do so. If no agreement can be made then the match MUST happen at 9:00pm CST.

C: Each match will consist of the weeks preselected map (as chosen by the creators) being played once. The designated HOME team (as listed on the schedule) will choose which side it wishes to play first, either commando or mercs. The AWAY clan will choose whether the map will be played in daylight or night and will play the remaining side, and then the clans will switch sides for the automatic team-switch for that map. The winner is determined by TOTAL rounds won (meaning, Fatal Tactics is not keeping score by the game-chosen winner in a round tie. If there is a tie in rounds in-game, then the match ENDS in a tie, no matter which clan the game "deems" the winner. If there is a TIE in rounds won, the match ends in a draw. Currently, SOCOM is not allowing the option of turning team-switch OFF midway through the map as their game book says they will do. Until this feature is properly restored, in the respect of ties and what not, FT: Survival will have to continue to play with the midway team switch on automatically. In this scenario, since both teams will be playing both sides before the map is over, the HOME TEAM chooses which side they wish to play on in the lobby. The AWAY TEAM will still choose whether the map will be played during the day or night.

D. Each month will have a total of 9 matches and, of those nine, THREE of those matches (one per week) will feature a themed war night. For FT: Survival, they can randomly be any of the following, however, all themed-nights WILL be disclosed at the beginning of the season and the particular theme of the night will be labeled as well:

"INFILTRATOR NIGHT" (Each clan in the lobby will choose one of their own gunners to switch to the opposing side to do as much damage to that team before being killed. The rest of the game is played as normal FT: Survival rules dictate. All explosive bans on FT: Survival still apply.)

"SILENT KILLER NIGHT" (All players are required to use silenced weapons only or the use of knives to obtain kills. All explosive bans on FT: Survival still apply.)

"SLASHERS NIGHT" (All players on a team are required to obtain kills by knives only EXCEPT for the one player on their team that is designated to utilize a Desert Eagle pistol ONLY. The two teams are to announce who their DE carrier will be at the beginning of the match in the lobby. No other player can use a pistol, either by equipping it mid-war or by picking up a pistol from the original pistol carrier. All knife carriers are to run with an automatic weapon in their hand, NOT a pistol. All pistol carriers cannot obtain a kill by a knife, only a pistol. No other pistol may be used here except the DE as it is the pistol allotted to both sides. All explosive bans on FT: Survival still apply.)

"LOUD NIGHT" (All players on a team are required to remove ALL silencers from their weapons. Every weapon shot cannot have a silencer on it, both primary weapon as well as pistol. Knife kills are acceptable.)

"HUNDRED BULLET NIGHT" (All players on a team are required to obtain kills by using a heavy machine gun only (M60E4 only). Knife kills are acceptable. All explosive bans on FT: Survival still apply.)

"LASER POINTER NIGHT" (All players on a team are required to obtain kills by using only weapons that are equipped with a laser sight. This includes all secondary pistols as well. Knife kills are acceptable. Any weapon not able to be equipped with a laser sight cannot be used on Laser Tag Night. The Map will be set for night and room creating team may choose Demolition or Control Points All explosive bans on FT: Survival still apply.)

E: A: For the purpose of determining the playoff seeding, regular season stats will be awarded the following points after every match reported:
5 points for each war night victory
0 points for each war night loss
2 points for each war night draw/tie
1 point for each round won
0 points for each round lost

F: Clan stats for the year will be non-transferable. As in, if your clan changes its name, merges with another, or any other action that causes your clan name to change, then your complete stats will be reset.

Rule Set 5: Clan Rosters & Player Eligibility

A: All clans that finally receive a formal invite to join in the FATAL TACTICS tournament are required to submit their most current roster lineup. Any player on your clan's roster NOT listed in the official lineup list will NOT be eligible for play in any FT-scheduled war. There will be no dates in which you will be able to alter your submitted tourney roster for the duration of this 3-week tourney. Rosters may be revised when/if your clan signs up for another month of FT: Survival.

B: Upon being selected as a participating clan in FT: Survival, all clans MUST submit a 1-roster list of NO MORE than 40 players (what Fatal tactics considers a full, active roster's worth of players). This is to ensure that all clans, no matter how large or small, compete on an even playing level in regards to available soldiers in their entire clan.

C: Your players do not have to be in the same actual online Socom clan roster, as many clans out there have multiple rosters or rosters for recruits. Our only concern here is that your eligible players are sporting the exact same clan tag in wars and that they are on the 40-man legal roster submitted to the FT Staff. Players not found on a clan's official roster list will not be eligible to war in FT: Survival.

D: You are to list your players in a numbered column. For example:
1: 0-Undertow-0
2: S_n_i_p_e_r
3: xxxMaGGotmaNxxx
4: Joe____Blo

We will NOT be numbering your roster for you. Please makes sure you follow the same exact format for reasons of uniformity, listing each player after the number and then the ":" symbol.

E: Clan Reps, please take note. You MUST submit a player's name EXACTLY how it appears in the game. If your player uses any numbers, symbols or punctuation marks in their name, be it at the beginning, middle or end of their name, the official FT: Survival roster MUST show that.

F: The only exception to the above rule "D" is that we do not count capitalization as stringently. All numbers, symbols and punctuation marks must be exactly the same from online name to FT Roster name, but capitalization is not counted. For example, "UnD3r_t0W" is counted to be the same as "uNd3r_t0w" noting that all symbols and numbers here are the same, only capitalization has been changed.

G: All clans are to check out EACH OTHERS rosters before the start of the war. If you notice someone incorrect on the roster of the opponent, you will tell them immediately in the lobby, so that the offending clan has the opportunity to bring in a legal player WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT FOR THE START OF THE WAR, or play the man down in the war. IF both clans green up without having to call on any ineligibility issues, all players are considered LEGIT and, even if there is a case of ineligibility found DURING the war, it is too late, and the war goes on AS IS. This will effectively eliminate any practices of "allowing" a clan to green up knowing they already have an ineligible player on their team in order to get a free win.

Rule Set 6: Discouragements While In-Game

A: The following is a list of EXPECTED etiquette during match play as well as interaction between clansmen and adversaries on all websites, online lobbies and forums associated with FT: Survival.

B: There will absolutely be NO threats, remarks, insinuations, posts, messages, images or quotes involving the use of racial, religious or disrespectful sexual slurs on ANY platform of FT. Any record or instance of this kind will be dealt with swiftly from a player disqualification from the tournament to the elimination of the entire clan, depending on the severity of the incident and the number of clansmen (man) involved. The two creators of FT will deliberate the penalty and the verdict will not be rescinded.

C: FT discourages the use of taunts and dancing in game against other UF clans. If your clan feels the need to do this, do it in another tournament. While engaged in combat against another FT clan, there is to be NO dancing on dead bodies and NO overhead taunts from one clan to the other. This tourney is based on and built upon a foundation of respect. We expect all to adhere to the ideals whilst playing in our house. Multiple infractions of this will result in a penalty handed down by the creators in an appropriate fashion they see fit.

D: Fatal tactics also asks that messaging through the PSN to teammates OR to opponents not be practiced by your clan. There is much more reward in "winning with honor and losing with dignity" in this community than there is in cheating.

E: It is encouraged, though not strictly a rule by any means, that only the Clan Rep (or the clan/team leader for that night) speak in the lobby for their team until the match starts.

F: Fatal tatics discourages any profane or racist trash talk towards your opponents in-game utilizing the "proximity" mic which is a standard in SOCOM: Confrontation. Please be aware that even though you are talking to your own clansmen in-game, there is a possibility that someone from the other team can hear you. Treat others as you expect to be treated.

Rule Set 7: Player Drops, No-Shows & Forfeits

A: At ANY time that a MASS DROP occurs at the BEGINNING of the first round of a war, the map must be aborted and the HOME team must make the new room again.

B: A "MASS DROP" will, for the duration of FT: Survival, be categorized as such an event when HALF of the players from at least one team gets dropped from the onset of the first round. When this happens, all remaining players are to abort, meet in the same server's lobby, and re-make the room.

C: The Mass Drop must be recognized immediately. Clans seeing that only one or two players got dropped from their team and decide to unplug half the team to restart the match evenly WILL be disqualified from the war. This is an honor system and the rules for restarting after a legitimate drop were created for YOUR benefit. Please do not abuse them.

D: AFTER the first round of a war, all drops, no matter how small or large, are to be PLAYED THROUGH. Basically, there can be, from time to time, server problems that we have to work through. You're seals...deal with it. Also, just make sure that the players you walk into the war with have reliable connections so they don't get dropped (ie, quit the downloading while warring. Be courteous to your opponents as well as your teammates).

E: No matter HOW MANY players from a clan show up, a scheduled match MUST be played at the designated time and cannot be rescheduled for any reason. If a sorely outnumbered clan wishes not to go through with their war, they can opt not to show at all and forfeit their match. The winners will receive full points for the win and the no-shows will receive no points as long as it is known that the no-show clan has not yet dropped from the tournament. IF it is found out that a clan has dropped from the tournament, and that particular no-show was the starting date for their absence, then the full points awarded will be removed from the winning clan's statistics.

F: The schedule for wars are as follows and there are to be NO exceptions:
1: The AWAY team will make the room ON TIME. The AWAY team is the team that makes the room so that they can choose whether the map will be played in day or night mode. Make it 5 minutes early to make CERTAIN the room is up at the designated time.

2: The start of the war MUST begin NO LATER THAN TEN MINUTES after the designated start time of the war. At TEN MINUTES, no matter the number of clan attendance for either side, players must green up and commence play. This gives both clans AMPLE time to get their players online and ready, though all clans should do their best to have all members in the lobby by the originally scheduled time out of respect for your opponent.

3: THE NUMBER YOU GO IN WITH IS THE NUMBER YOU PLAY WITH. If you have late incoming clan members, they are NOT allowed to join the match once the lobby has launched into the loading screen. The number you GREEN UP WITH is the number you play with. If your clan is caught illegally subbing during a war, then your clan will automatically LOSE that war. The 2nd infraction will result in your clan's expulsion from the tourney, no questions asked. This also includes players who get dropped and can't, for some reason, get back on. If the dropped player, because of connection problems, cannot log back into the war, then the war finishes WITHOUT him and his team plays short a body. No other member of your clan may join the match to replace the missing gunner and participate in one live round, otherwise, that clan is disqualified from that war with the winners getting full winner points and the forfeiting clan losing all available points for that match.

4: Under NO circumstances should the start of a war be held up for ANY reason. People, I know there can be a courtesy here to wait, but we encourage you NOT to, and to begin the war AS AGREED by both Clan Reps at the scheduling meeting. If you cannot get clan mates at your war at the time designated, then take that problem up with your player(s). There is NO GUILT in requiring that a clan green up at TEN MINUTES after the designated time of the war. Some clans caught on this may say that forcing them to start short-handed, but on time, isn't very honorable of the other clan. However, the way the situation should be looked at is that THEIR player not showing up is showing both clans no respect. The wars start ON TIME.

G: If, by fault of the game, a player is spawned UNDER the ground or, by any normal account, spawns in a place not set by natural game standards (typically known as a glitch), then that player is NOT to engage in any combat and is to immediately leave the game and come back. IF a player takes a kill from one of these "glitch" points, then that offending clan will immediately lose that war and all rewards associated with that war. The player knowingly breaking the rules will be subject to expulsion from the tourney.

H: If, during the course of the war, a typical drop occurs where the entire room is dropped with the exception of one man on one team, the room is to be re-made and the war is to pick up replaying the last round where the room was dropped. A clan will not gain rounds simply by being the only clan in the room. Only players involved in the initial war can enter the newly remade room. This is not an opportunity to fill up some no-shows who finally made it online. When the new room is made up, NO NEW NAMES are to participate.

I: From time to time, Socom experiences server problems immediately following the release of a patch for the game. The most evident culprit is lag. If, on the night of a war following a patch's release, lag seems to hamper the most fairest game possible for all clans, then FT reserves the right to cancel all wars for that night. When a mass war cancellation is announced, no wars will be fought and no records will be recorded. An announcement for a cancellation will always be issued here on the FT forum.

Rule Set 8: FT War Match Parameters

A: All rooms MUST be made by 9:00 Central Standard Time (unless there is an alternate time that has been offered by Fatal Tactics and has been agreed upon by both clans). The room is to be made by the AWAY team in the server designated by UF to host all FT: Survival wars OR in a server agreed upon by the Clan Reps if no server is designated by FT. NOTE: if the room is up late, then the AWAY team forfeits the match. In your best interests, please have the room up at least 5 minutes before the actual start time. A 3rd party FT clan member can be called upon to verify that a room is not up on time.

The room must be set up with the following parameters:

> Your Clan Rep will find a special section in the Clan Rep section where he/she will be working with the Clan Rep of your opponent that week to make SURE that PSN friends list invites are exchanged in ample time BEFORE your war. If your war does not happen because your Clan Reps forgot this stage of war prep, then both clans will have forfeited the war (and you should be thinking about a new Clan Rep).

> The room must be made as a PUBLIC, PASSWORDED ROOM. The title should always contain the following information:
FT Survival
Attacking clan Tag vs Defending clan Tag.

Whoever is making the room MUST type the server that they are putting the room in INTO their profile comment on their PSN friends list. Then, in the private room, the host is to head to the friends tab at the bottom of the screen and invite the players from his/her clan AS WELL AS any member(s) of the opposing clan so that all participants can get in.

> Please note: the invite to the room is found in a MESSAGE in your SOCOM MESSAGE ACCOUNT, not on your PSN messages. Accepting the invite will not bring you directly to the room. You must accept the invite and then enter the correct server. It will be then that SOCOM places you in the correct private room to the war you have accepted an invite from.

> All wars in FT: Survival will contain maps that are FOURTEEN (14) rounds with SIX (6) minute long rounds.

> Each war will be played with no more than 8v8 players.

> Respawn MUST be turned OFF.

> Friendly fire MUST be turned on (teammates CAN be killed by friendly fire).

> Target Spotting is to be ENABLED.

> Under the WEAPON OPTIONS, all five options in the EXPLOSIVES tab at the bottom of the list that can inflict damage/death are to be prohibited from the room. All smoke and flash grenades are now allowed for use in FT: Survival. Because of this distinction in the Explosives Tab, make sure that there is no mistake in the room formation stage. Please be sure, when clicking off the seven explosives found under the explosives tab, that the person making the room does not click off the SPECIAL FORCES gun which is found all the way at the bottom of the list. These are to be allowed. There will be no use of grenades, rockets, grenade launchers and/or claymores in your UF: Black matches. This is a "no-boom" tournament.

B: In the lobby before the war, if a team refuses to green up at 10 minutes after the official start time of the war for whatever reason, including waiting for a late arrival, then that team forfeits and there will be no war. A 3rd party FT clan member can be called upon to verify that a room is not greened up on time.

C: It will be known that ALL maps for the entirety of FT: Survival can be comprised of Demolition, Suppression, Elimination and/or Control modes only.

D: If a clan uses any banned weapon in FT: Survival AND obtains a kill by that banned weapon's use, the infraction will be recorded by the opposing clan and the map is to play on AS IS. The clan in violation of this rule will forfeit all of their round(s) won for THAT map and the opposing clan will be awarded the victory for that map with their respective round(s) won intact. This pertains mainly to themed-nights as the only banned weapons for regular play are explosives and those should be automatically turned off if the room is made correctly. Repeated abuse of this banned weapons rule will result in that clans removal from FT: Survival. Please make sure that all your players are aware of the parameters for that night and that the person designated to make the room knows, inside and out, what is allowed and what is not allowed.

Rule Set 9: Playoff Details

A: Immediately following the 11 month season, the month of December will see the bracket playoffs begin. Those who complete 5 or more FT: Survival tourney months will be eligible for the 32-clan PLAYOFF MONTH in December! Those clans who have played 5 or more FT: Survival tourneys AND rank up in the top 32 clans that did, advance into the bracket playoff month. December is the only month for the "Grand Champ Playoffs," where as January through November are considered the "regular season." There may be more than 32 clans that exceed 5 or more monthly FT: Survival tourneys in the year and that is where the ongoing standings will come into play.

B: For the purpose of determining the playoff seeding, regular season stats will be awarded the following points:
5 points for each war night victory
0 points for each war night loss
2 points for each war night draw/tie
1 point for each round won
0 points for each round lost

The first seed for each league will be the clan with the most number of points after the 11 month season is over. Your ongoing points for the year will be posted and maintained on the main page of the FT: Survival tournament site so that you and your opponents can monitor them as desired.

C: Seedings and tiebreakers are figured (in this order of importance):
- Total Wars Won Percentage (to the hundreth decimal point *100.00* rounded up, throughout the year)
- Total Points Awarded (throughout the year total)
- Total Rounds Won (throughout the year total)
- Total Low Rounds Lost (lower number is better, throughout the year total)

D: At the start of the playoffs, a meeting of all Clan Reps along with a FT: Survival admin will occur. At this meeting each clan will choose a map as their own to be played during the FT: Survival playoff bracket. However, only Suppression or Demolition objectives may be used and all maps chosen will be played as the small version. Also, a clan must declare a night/day setting for the map (if applicable) which is to remain the same, and cannot be changed, throughout their tenure in the playoff bracket. The order of map picking will be determined by which of the teams has the higher point total. That team will choose first, followed by the second place team and so on. If a clan is not present, it forfeits its choice in the order, and will be assigned a map by the FT: Survival admin after all other clans have picked. The map assigned here in this manner may NOT be rejected by the clan who did not show up for the meeting.

E: A certain map / map mode / map day-night combo can only be chosen ONCE for the playoff map declarations. Meaning, "Fallen, Demolition, Night" can be chosen by Clan A while Clan B can choose "Fallen, Demolition, Day." Clan B could have also substituted in a different map mode or a different map altogether to make their choice UNIQUE. Once a unique combination has been chosen, then that combination cannot be chosen by another clan in the map choosing meeting. In the event that ALL possibilities have been chosen by the Clan Reps and there are still clans waiting to choose, then the clans still waiting to choose may ONLY choose map parameters that any EVEN NUMBER SEEDED TEAM HAS ALREADY CHOSEN. Any odd number seeded team's choice may not be duplicated.

F: Playoff matches will consist of 2 maps with a 3rd universal tiebreaker (selected by the Fatal Tactics Staff and revealed to the clans after the map meeting here on the forum) map if needed. The first map played will be the higher ranking clan’️s map. The second map will be the lower ranking clan’️s map. The participating clans choose their side for their respective map (or, if the team-switch option has not been provided to the players by SOCOM at the time of the war, then the home team will choose which side they will play on FIRST for the map before the team switch in the middle of the war). The winner is the clan with the most rounds won over the course of the first two maps. If a round won total between the two clans is a tie, then pick of side on the 3rd map is determined by the clan with the higher seed.

G: The single elimination bracket proceeds until there is a determination of FT: Survival champion. This match is no different from the previously explained playoff matches, except the two final teams trade their respective maps which were selected at the initial playoff meeting, so that Clan A will choose which side to play on for Clan B's playoff map selection, and Clan B will choose which side to play on for Clan A's playoff map selection.

H: Fatal Tactics will offer the entire clan who stands victorious at the end of the yearly playoffs a prize for their accomplishment. Again, this will be a free tourney. There is no entry fee required. ALSO, the grand champ clan at the end of the year earns a FREE PASS into as many FT: TACMAP tourneys as they wish to enter into for the entire following year for SOCOM. No matter how many TACMAP tourneys Fatal Tactics releases in the following year for SOCOM, that clan will be able to participate in each one, free of charge, and still be eligible for the prize for each TACMAP tourney. All the while, a new yearly series of FT: Survival tourneys will begin in that January, and the hunt for a new grand champion will begin. The previous champions have the right to continue on in the next year of FT: Survival as well.

Rule Set 10: Reporting Your Wars

A: At the END of the war, one representative from each clan will report in to the FT: Survival forums and report the match results in the War Report Section.

The information should be posted as such:

Subject line should read as: [AWAY TAG] @ [HOME TAG], Date [00-00-00]

And the posts should include:

1: The HOME team: [clan tag]
2: The AWAY team: [clan tag]
3: WINNER of the war, or state if a draw
4: HOME TEAM Rounds Won
5: AWAY TEAM Rounds Won

Thank you.
